Confidence to Respond in Real Moments
Participants leave ASIST with the confidence to recognize suicide risk and respond effectively, rather than avoiding the conversation out of fear of saying the wrong thing.
Life-Saving Communication Skills
ASIST teaches how to have direct, compassionate conversations about suicide that reduce isolation and increase hope. Participants learn how to listen without judgment, ask clear questions, and support someone in creating a path toward safety.
Evidence-Based Framework
Over two days, participants learn and practice a consistent, evidence-based intervention model used internationally. This shared language improves teamwork, coordination, and confidence when supporting someone at risk.
Deep Skill Practice, Not Just Information
Unlike shorter trainings, ASIST provides guided role-play, feedback, and repetition, ensuring participants don’t just understand the concepts, but can actually apply them under stress.
Increased Awareness of Warning Signs
Participants gain a clearer understanding of behavioral, emotional, and situational warning signs of suicide, allowing for earlier and more effective intervention.
Strengthened Empathy and Human Connection
ASIST fosters deeper empathy and reduces stigma by centering the lived experience of people struggling with suicidal thoughts. This leads to more compassionate and effective support.
Practical Safety Planning Skills
Participants learn how to collaboratively build a personalized safety plan, helping individuals identify supports, protective factors, and next steps toward safety.
Preparedness Across Roles and Settings
ASIST equips people from diverse roles, not just clinicians, with skills that translate across workplaces, families, schools, and communities.
Emotional Readiness and Self-Awareness
The training includes space for reflection and emotional processing, helping participants manage their own reactions and prevent compassion fatigue.
A Commitment to Community Safety
The two-day format reinforces that suicide prevention is not a quick fix, but a shared responsibility that requires skill, care, and presence.

So much great info and solid pacing, definitely a good first step into being more comfortable with supporting someone having suicidal thoughts!
Kristin and Jill provided a comfortable learning environment! I was originally worried about learning about suicide but they quickly set my worries at ease and I loved the opportunity to both learn and practice using the model they taught us. Thank you for the important work you both do!
This workshop truly changed the way I think about supporting someone in crisis. I wish I would have had this training during my social work degree years ago! I feel equipped with the tools and confidence to have those conversations in a way that is compassionate and effective. Kristin’s approach is incredibly engaging and she made this difficult topic feel approachable. I would highly recommend this training to anyone who wants to be better prepared to support others.
